Length- 3 hours

Scary Parts- Tevye has a dream (that he actually makes up)
about a butcher’s wife who comes back from the grave. In the production we saw, it was scary for
the kids.

Matchmaker, Symbolism (of the Fiddler)
Songs Kids Will Like:
Matchmaker, Tradition
Summary- Nice way
to learn “the old ways” about many traditional societies. Chloe said, “that isn’t fair” when I told her
about how the main character got to pick his daughter’s husbands. My son Will thought Tevye was funny. Will also liked the backgrounds and asked a lot of questions about them. Another part I like about FOTR is that there is some value
to traditional ways. Tevye is a
character to which all dads can relate; probably, Golda is one with whom all
moms can get down. It is a little long,
so you might have to hit a bathroom break midway through the first half, but
the second half moves quickly. I also
like the symbolism (basic, easy to understand) of the Fiddler. I'd recommend, but I'd take kids who you know like musicals and can sit for a good amount of time.
